Introduction to Yarn Dyeing
A one-day workshop designed to enhance your woolcraft in your own style.
This beginners session introduces you to principles of using acid (chemical) dyes on non-superwash, natural wool yarn.
We explore a range of techniques that produce different styles - semi-solid, variegated, spots, resist, layers - with stovetop, steam and using a bain marie.
Participants create yarns with the Tarndie Beanie pattern as the focus and finish with enough bespoke Polwarth 4ply yarn to create a beanie.
The tutor is Tom Dennis who has been working with Landscapes Dyes on Polwarth wool since 2015 and creates yarns for the Tarndwarncoort woolshop.
It’s a fun day of colourful exploration amongst a deep love of sheep and wool.
$165 - includes tuition, morning tea, 4 x 25gm skeins of 4ply yarn, Tarndie Beanie knitting pattern.
